Master of Business student Livvy Mitchell took first place at the AUT Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition Master's finals on Friday 16 August with her presentation entitled 'Home Detention: Couch surfing or job preserving?'
Livvy's talk described her research into home detention sentencing in New Zealand, looking at the relationship between home detention and offenders' recidivism rates and labour market participation. Livvy's research, conducted toward a Master's in Economics, evaluates the effect of policy changes in the Parole Amendment Act 2007.
